美国漫游者机器人研究月球水资源

NASA has announced plans to send a rover robot to investigate water resources at an Antarctic location on the moon. Launch is scheduled for December 2022.

This rover robot is VIPER (Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover). A neutron spectrometer is used to probe a moist area in the ground, and samples taken within 1m in length are analyzed with a dedicated device. It is a structure that transmits the data obtained through this to the Earth.

In 2009, NASA succeeded in detecting water or ice components by conducting an experiment in which a rocket hit the lunar Antarctic point. In addition to the detailed location and properties of water and ice, the survey also checks how much water resources exist.

The US government is working on an Artemis plan to send mankind back to the moon and build a base. Securing water resources may accelerate the advancement of mankind to the moon if they find abundant water resources that are not inconvenient to life such as base construction and living on the moon.
