On October 24th, a paper was published showing that the processor Sycamore developed by Google proved quantum transcendence. Sycamore reports that the world’s fastest supercomputer solved a 10,000-year computational problem in 3 minutes and 20 seconds.
Google isn’t the only one developing quantum computers with computational power that is impossible with existing computers. IBM is also developing a commercial quantum computer called the IBM Q. In the midst of this, Amazon, which has not participated in the quantum computing competition so far, suddenly announced the Amazon Bracket, a quantum computing service. The bracket is derived from the bracket technique invented by quantum mechanic Paul Dirac.
According to Amazon, the new service allows scientists, researchers, and developers to experience and experiment with quantum computers by multiple developers on a single platform. Amazon Bracket provides real experience using quantum bit quantum circuits, and after building and testing circuits in a simulation environment, you can proceed with real quantum computers. Amazon Bracket is also managed by AWS, and it is said to ensure security and encryption at every step. Developers referred to here are Amazon partners D-Wave, IonQ, and Rigetti.
Users can access the Amazon Bracket from the laptop interface. In addition, Amazon announced the establishment of the AWS Quantum Computing Center, which brings together quantum computing researchers and engineers adjacent to the California Institute of Technology to develop both hardware and software.
