AWS showcased auto racing and leagues during the developer conference re: invent held last year. It is also a textbook for developers to enjoy learning machine learning. In time for this year’s re-invention, AWS announced the car racing update on November 27th.
AWS Vice President Jeff Barr said he has upgraded DeepRacer’s sensor capabilities to increase the chances of competing at AWS events and to use it in various events hosted by users or in real races.
The new model, DeepRacer Evo, is an extended version of the original model, equipped with a stereo camera and rider. The addition of a rider and a three-dimensional camera enhances the ability to detect and respond to obstacles. You can also find other deep racers. Through this, developers can study the field of reinforcement learning and study machine learning methods suitable for autonomous driving.
If you already have a deep racer, you can also buy a sensor upgrade kit and modify it. All Deep Racer Evona upgrade kits will be released next year.
AWS plans to increase the number of racing competitions and diversify the types from next year. Last year, it was only a speed race, but now, instead of competing for the ability to avoid obstacles and measuring the speed one by one, there is actually a race where several cars compete with me.
