GitHub社区正在向全球扩展

GitHub, the world’s largest software development platform, has been used by numerous software developers since its launch in 2008. GitHub has released its 2019 annual report showing that it is growing and becoming more interconnected with a global software development community.

The number of user accounts on GitHub is over 40 million as of the end of September 2019. However, of these, more than 10 million accounts have been opened for a year from October 1, 2018 to September 30 this year. In addition, the number of newly created projects over the same period exceeded 44 million. The number of users who created the project for the first time increased by a whopping 44% over the period from October 2017 to September 2018. Projects depend on a variety of different projects, and the average number of projects on GitHub each project depends on is over 200.

In addition, TensorFlow, one of the most popular projects on GitHub, is said to have been developed by 2,200 participants between October 2018 and September 2019. In addition, it can be said that over 25,000 developers contributed to the development of TensorFlow, including the participants of TensorFlow and dependent projects.

It is said that over 1.7 million students are learning to code on GitHub through the use of GitHub in the educational field. In addition, the number of active users of the GitHub Student Developer Pack exceeds 760,000, and the next developer is gathering at GitHub.

Of course, businesses and other organizations around the world also use GitHub. The number of private public organization accounts is close to 3 million, and organizations that use GitHub Enterprise Cloud, an enterprise cloud service, span 70 countries. 35 of the 50 most respected companies in the world selected by the business magazine Fortune are said to have contributed to the GitHub open source project during the period from October 2018 to September 2019.

GitHub points out that the software developer community is becoming increasingly global, and GitHub’s open source projects are built by developers in an average of 41 countries or regions. More than 80% of GitHub users use it outside the U.S. and even say they have access to Antarctica.

Looking at the percentage of developers who contributed to the GitHub open source project from 2014 to 2019, the percentage of non-US users who made copies using existing open source by country is China, India, Germany, the UK, and Japan. Countries with high growth rates for open source projects include Nigeria, Iran, Kenya, Indonesia, Greece, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Tunisia, and Morocco. In fact, Asian countries, such as Hongko, Singapore, Japan, and Korea, ranked the highest in the growth rate of participants who wrote issues or attached comments on open source projects.

Looking at the popular programming languages on GitHub, Python beats Java in second place, and C# is changing to C++. In the case of rapidly growing programming languages, Dart, a programming language developed by Google, and Flutter, a mobile application framework, are also increasing in use.
