蒂姆·伯纳斯·李宣布达成拯救网络协议

Leaving the web as it is will cause many problems, and if the situation is not improved, there is a possibility that digital dystopia will be realized. We need to change the web right now, not the 10-year web plan now. That said, Tim Berners-Lee, the father of the Web, unveiled a global guide of action to protect the future of the Web and humanity in a digital dystopia full of fake news and privacy invasion.

The Agreement for the Web, announced this time, deals with principles for protecting humanity from abuses of the Web towards governments, businesses and citizens. These principles refer to 9 in total, 3 each to the government, business and citizens.

First of all, in the case of government, the first is that everyone should be able to connect to the web. Second, it demands that the Internet be available at any time, and third, that people’s basic online privacy and data rights should be respected and protected. Next is the enterprise. The first is that Internet usage fees should be kept low and accessible to everyone. Second, respect people’s privacy and personal information and build online trust. The last is that we must support technologies that have a good effect on humanity and challenge what makes them adversely affect.

The principle for the general public is to first be a producer and co-producer on the web, then to create a strong community that respects the dignity of humanity and citizens’ discussions, and finally, fight for the web.

The agreement is supported by more than 150 organizations issued by the World Wide Web Foundation, founded by Burners Lee. The names of organizations that support the agreement include Microsoft, Google, Facebook, and the e-Printer Foundation, but Amazon or Twitter are not yet included.

Those who support the agreement say they need to show that they are trying to implement this principle or that they are working on a problem, and if it is not enough, they should be removed from the list. In November, it was reported that Google had medical records for 50 million Americans without consent, and Amnesty International’s top report is concerned about the possibility of human rights violations by Google or Facebook. It is also attracting attention how the two companies will respond.

Burners Lee says that the power to drive the web in the wrong direction is quite strong, and that companies or governments can control the web to make big profits or give it power. He said that the reason that ordinary citizens play the biggest role is because these people are the only motivators for businesses and governments. One expert pointed out that a global movement for the web is needed, saying that the power of the good web is under threat and people are demanding change. Related information can be found here .
